AIR MAN |

Real Name: Drake Stephens

Source of Powers: His costume
Powers/Abilities: made a costume out of his love for birds. His costume
allows him to fly w/a pair of huge wings. He also wears a utility belt
of sorts that stores all manner of devices.
First Appearance: Golden Age-Keen Detective Comics #23 (Centaur Comics),
Revived in 1992 by Malibu in Protectors #1
History: While studying birds in 1939, Dr. Stevens
father was killed at sea by Captain Klegg. He donned a personal flying suit
that he had been designing (with which to better study his birds) and became
Air Man. He added a utility belt filled with useful weaponry. As Air Man he
defeated Captain Klegg and numerous other mystery villains.

AMAZING MAN |
Amazing Man
Real Name: John Aman
Occupation: independently wealth given by the Council of Seven, never
had a job other than Amazing Man
Group Affiliation: Protectors
Powers/Abilities: Superhuman strength, amazing control of his body, and
incredible mental powers (including a low level of telepathy). Also,
through the intervention of a woman from the outside world, he was
injected with a serum that allowed him to become a green mist. Amazing
Man could also fly.
First Appearance: Golden Age - Amazing Man #5 (Centaur Comics, September
1939), Revived in 1992 by Malibu in Protectors #1
History: John Aman. Aka., the Green Mist. an orphaned infant was brought
to a secret fortress hidden high in the mountains of Tibet. This was the
home base of a mysterious group of mystics who were known as the Council
of Seven. While raising the child, the mystics used their arcane
knowledge to endow the boy with powers beyond the ordinary.

Real Name: Brandee Douglas
Group Affiliation: Protectors
Powers/Abilities: Her powers are basically that she can shoot bolts of
lightning out of her hands, and she apparently cannot fly. She is
sometimes cocky and has at times caused harm to her teammates as a
result of her carelessness in battle.
First Appearance: Protectors #1
History: Arc is the youngest member of the Protectors. As a teenager,
she idolized the costumed supranormal Aura in the way that her friends
felt towards rock stars. She was therefore delighted when, at the age of
16, she spontaneously developed the ability to project bolts of
electrical energy. Ecstatic over this development, she immediately
plunged into the life of the supranormal...without the consent or
knowledge of her family. She quickly gained a reputation for her spunky,
gregarious nature, but was perceived as being prone to recklessness

ARROW |
The Arrow
Real Name: Ralph Payne
First Appearance: Golden Age-Funny Pages Vol. 2 #10 (Centaur Comics,
September 1938), revived by Malibu in the pages of the Protectors in the
1990s.
History: "As a young man growing up in Texas, Rick Parker was an avid
hunter. His weapon of choice was the bow and arrow -- feeling that this
represented the greatest challenge and gave the prey the fairest chance.
Following a stint with the military, Rick was recruited into one of the
intelligence branches of the US Government and assigned to duty in a
small, struggling Latin American country caught in the throes of civil
war. While there, he bore helpless witness to the massacre of an entire
village by the modernized forces loyal to that country's government. He
also learned the country was being funded by US government dollars.
Sickened by what he learned Rick resigned and was inspired to use his
own skills to fight for justice. Again turning to the bow, he adopted
the identity of The Arrow -- and this time became a hunter of men." -

History: "In the early 1980's, one magazine described Morgan DuBay as
"the woman who has it all." Married to a rising young attorney and the
mother of an infant daughter, she was also one of the most successful
models in America. Yet she quit her career at its height, for reasons
never made public. One reason was that she inexplicably found herself
possessed with the supranormal ability to generate colorful waves of
force. Using this ability, she assumed the role of the costumed

History: "Studying under the most adept magicians of the ancient world,
he mastered their skills and eventually out stripped them. Eventual he
gained the ultimate knowledge, the power to defy death. Through the ages
he has had many guises and always guised his powers for the good of

EYE |

Real Name: Unknown

First Appearance: revived by Malibu in the pages of the Protectors
in the 1990s.
History: During an armed robbery the robber tried to keep police at bay
by taking a young woman hostage in his attempt to reach his get away
car. Suddenly something appeared in the sky floating above the scene. It
was a giant eyeball and it crackled with energy as it killed the
criminal. The floating Eye was just a projection of the power of an
unknown man who would be called the Eye.

FERRET |
Ferret
Real Name: Cal Denton
Group Affiliation: Protectors
Powers/Abilities: enhanced strength, excellent fighting ability
First Appearance: Man of War #2 (Jan. 1942), revived by Malibu in the
Protectors #1 1992.
History: When young Cal Denton reached the age of 18, he suddenly found
himself possessed of Supranormal abilities. He assumed the occurence was
the result of nothing more than some freak anomaly in his genetic
makeup. He is mistaken in that belief. He actually achieved his powers
from an [CENSORED: This information has been classified TOP SECRET under
the provisions of the Comstock Act. Divulsion of this data is punishable
by fine and/or imprisonment.].
Ferret has gained a much deserved reputation as one of the more violent
costumed supranormal heroes, feeling that in matters of justice, the
ends justify the means. His volatile personality makes it difficult to
maintain either professional or personal relationships. This is
exemplified in his struggle as a rock singer."

First Appearance: Amazing Mystery Funnies V2 #7 (July 1939), revived in 1992

History: "When a wave of crimes began to plague the New York World's Fair of
1939, it seemed the event might well collapse. But then a mysterious caped
figure appeared to serve as its special protector. This dark avenger was
known as Gravestone [or Fantom, to some]. Very little is known about
Gravestone, other than the fact that he appears to he hundreds -- possibly
thousands -- of years old. He comes and goes at will, favoring the cloaking
shelter of night and shadows. Gravestone is a true mystery man in every
sense of the term. There are rumors that men who have tried to uncover his
secrets have disappeared, never to be seen again. It is rumored that he may
actually be from another dimension or world other than our own. Of the two,

MAN OF WAR |

SPowers/Abilities: flaming sword, agility and enhanced strength.
First Appearance: Golden Age - Liberty Scouts #2 (Jun. 1941) from Centaur
Comics, revived in 1992 by Malibu in Protectors #1
History: Clay Carter was a college student when the American Embassy in
Tehran was seized and its occupants taken hostage. Spurred by his loathing
for this action against the United States, he looked for some way whereby he
could serve his country. Amazingly, he was seemingly visited by the spirit
of the ancient Roman god of war, Mars. Mars imbued Carter with powers that
were derived from the planets. Armed with these newfound abilities, Carter
assumed the guise of Man of War. Whether or not this visit actually occurred
has never been established. Clay Carter swears to this day that it is the
truth, and as a result of the incident, he has become an amateur astronomer
in order to study the planets from which his powers supposedly derive. He
fought his cyborg brother, Fracas. Once thought dead after following his
brother into the service and being listed as KIA, he was rebuilt by the Kill
Corps to serve the government with super powers. The battled his brother in
Cuba and became somewhat disillusioned with his country.

MIGHTY MAN |
Mighty Man
Real Name: Scott Pearson
Place of Birth: Northern Canada in mystical valley
Group Affiliation: Protectors
Powers/Abilities: His main powers are size manipulation. In the comics,
he appears to grow greater than 20 ft and had increased strength with
increased size.
First Appearance: Amazing-Man Comics #5 (September 1939), revived in
1992 by Malibu in Protectors #1.
History: While exploring an isolated region of northern Canada, Prof.
Richard Pearson stumbled upon a hidden valley in which rested a lost
city. The inhabitants were a race of giants, and only one of them
survived. Pro. Pearson 'adopted' the giant youth, who stood 12 feet
tall, and brought him to the United States. A colleague of Pearson's,
Dr. Francis Hilldale attempted an experiment that would shrink that
giant to normal size. As the result of that experiment, Scott Pearson
found that he could alter his size at will, whether growing to a height
of 20 feet or shrinking to the size of a doll. The last surviving member
of a lost race, he is in many ways a true 'alien'. Yet of all the
Protectors, he bears the greatest love for his adopted home country

Real Name: Richard Reinhart

First Appearance: Protectors series 1990s from Malibu comics.
History: "Richard is the product of Philip Reinhart's -- the original
Night Mask -- brief and volatile marriage to the former Erika Blaine. At
the age of 3, he became the object of a bitter and highly publicized
custody battle following the divorce of his parents. Richard attended
several universities without earning a degree, then spent several years
drifting around Europe. Having grown up with his mother, his
relationship with his father is strained. Upon learning of the formation
of the Protectors, Richard petitioned President O'Brien for a place on
the roster. He donned a new costume, but adopted the same name as that
used by his father when he was a masked crimefighter 50 years ago." -

NIGHT MASK III |

Real Name: Marcia Beckworth

Powers/Abilities: Flight, superhuman strength, some invulnerability
First Appearance: Protectors series 1990s from Malibu comics.
History: Marcia Beckworth is a granddaughter of one of the assistants of
the original Night Mask. She met Reinhart at the grave of her
grandfather, and made such a strong impression on him that he asked she
be made his assistant in aiding the Protectors. For a few weeks she was
the behind-the-scenes glue that helped the Protectors stick together,
acting as a sort of mother/sister figure. After Richard Reinhart died,
she was visited at his tomb by the mysterious Eye, and either granted
powers or had her latent powers brought forth.

THRESHER |

Powers/Abilities: Breath underwater, withstand extreme depth pressures,
telepathy with sharks, able to cast illusions of water into desired
shapes, can see underwater clearly.
First Appearance: Airman #1, 1992.
History: "Being the son of Neptune and a mermaid, Thresher is not human
at all. He is about 70 years old, and comes from the underground city of
Aquatania, which belongs to a dimensional universe separate from our
own. Thresher's mother still lives in Aquitania, however, her identity
is unknown to him. Thresher's own home is a fortress hidden in the
depths of the Atlantic Ocean [not bought as a base because it doesn't

WITCH |
The Witch
Real Name: Andrea Nastrova

Powers/Abilities: The Witch exudes pheromones which greatly weaken the
wills of males.
First Appearance: The Protectors series in the 1990s by Malibu comics.
History: "Andrea Nastrova was a struggling young artist trying to make
ends meet. As part of her Bohemian life-style she affected [sic], she
gained a reputation for eccentricity and secretiveness regarding her
background. When she gained supranormal powers, she decided to use them
for financial gain. Thus, she became in essence a "hero for hire." Some
of the assignments she chose to accept skirted on the very edge of
legality. This brought her -- on more than one occasion -- into actual
conflict with the costumed supranormal known as Mighty Man. To this day
