After the end of the second volume of Mighty Crusaders, Kevin Moorhead continued the story, commissioning covers for the series long after Archie had ceased publication.

Cross-time capers mean Kang and the Lord of Time. That was easy. But Archie never had anyone like that. Luckily, I’d already revised one of their 60’s villains, the Gladiator, into that kind of character. Then it was a case of just enjoying picking random heroes and heroines for a cool looking cover. All three of our villains look great here (especial the Lord of Time and Ashur Khan-the Gladiator) as do the faces on Hawkwoman, Firestorm and the Crusaders.
