So am I getting this right. The Mighty Crusaders are Archie Comics answer to Marvel and DC's superheroes line?
If so what was Impact Comics all about, did DC get the licence to do Archie characters or what happenend back in the early 90's?
Who owns the rights to the Archie superheroes today, and do any of you think we'll see any of them again anytime soon?

Yes but they date back to before Archie when the company was MLJ and the Hangman was the most violent Super Hero ever published and the Shield per dates Captain America, his side kick Dusty per dates Bucky.

Exactly, In the 80's Alan Moore wanted to use the Archie Heroes for Watchmen and the Comedian would have been the Shield then DC purchase Charlton and Alan changed the script, then DC wanted him to created his own heroes. In the 90's however, DC licensed the Archie heroes for the Impact Universe.

Archie is a family owned company, it is owned and operated by the sons of 2 of the original founders. They are currently trying to sell the Mighty Crusaders in Hollywood, if there are any takers there will be a comic, without a movie or TV deal, probably not.

In defining MLJ and Mighty Crusaders characters as seperate entities (as Red Circle did in the 80's in some letters pages), are the former any Archie/MLJ characters not to appear as Mighty Crusaders or is it more complicated than that? Can anyone explain for a relative newbie?

Thanks, in advance.

I thought I'd use the same thread to keep some related info together.

There were a few, Red Rube was the most noticable. The Wizard was totally changed and was no longer a hero. He didn't have the same look either.

I've read the story with the Wizard (and Hangman) being less than heroic. No reconcilliaation with later Red Circle or AWM of course...

I was wondering if there is a specific differentiation?
