Michael Ivan Silberkleit, April 27, 1932 - August 5, 2008

I saw Mr. Silberkleit's obit in the LA Times today. I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up with Archie and the gang.

In the Times obit, they quoted a question he had been asked in an interview about who he preferred, Betty or Veronica. He said he loved them equally.

I married a Veronica, wish I'd married a Betty. (I also went to my senior prom with a Veronica--could do an issue of the comic on that disaster.)

Keep up the good work with the comics, you guys are great.

A Sad Time for Archie, Betty and Veronica

I lived on Archie comic books when I was a kid. Now comes the sad word that the publisher of Archie Comics has died. Michael Silberkleit ran the business for years. His father co-founded the company that, to this day, entertains millions of young people.

Like everyone I'm saddened about Michael's death. It warms my heart though to see all of these articles paying tribute to him. We will never know the full effect he had on the world, but I know he touched many lives from many generations and he will be greatly missed.
