Check out: comics.org

This page lists four covers from a series that isn't
indexed completely. The first three don't even appear
to be from the same series as the last image. The
first three look like horror comics published by
Red Circle, which I've previously recognized as an
Archie imprint, but look closer at the upper right
hand corner of the large images for each of these
covers. These three read "FAWCETT"!!

Does anyone have any more information on Fawcett-Red Circle
Mad House??

I think it says Fawcett on the 4th one also. Look in the upper right hand corner, right under the issue number

Sure enough! So, had Fawcett purchased Archie at the time,
or vice-versa?

I seem to recall that Fawcett DISTRIBUTED comics for
other publishers for a while, and distributor names
sometimes appeared on covers.

I'm sure that that is why "Fawcett" is printed on the Archie covers. Back when comics were returnable, the dealer had to know where the comics should be returned and printing the name of the distributor was the fastest way to make that information available. Back in the late fifties until some point in the 1960s, Marvel was being distributed by Independent News Company (then owner of National Periodical Publications) and Marvel comic books had "IND." on their covers. Examples can be seen here (from1957), here (1959), here (1961), and here (1968). Besides, I think if Archie had been bought by any other comic company, it would have come up in a comic history or two over the years.
