I read the first four episodes in digital format, but I find print a more satisfying medium, so was very happy to read the relaunch story again in print. This could be my favourite series of the year, based on one issue alone.

All ages but in the truest sense of the phrase. Loved it. ,!-- s:) -->:),!-- s:) -->

You know what,? ...I agree!! I've even read to the second issue and it is good.
I'm glad. Maybe this time out will be a charm. ,!-- s:) -->:),!-- s:) -->

I hope so; I think there IS a market for this kind of book, especially with the increasingly visceral approaches of Dc and Marvel 9and I think Dc have been more culpable when it comes to shock tactics in the past several years) but only time will tell.

Wow.

I just bought and read the first four issues of New Crusaders. I am overjoyed.

To have the original Original Shield back in action, and to move the whole continuity forward realistically, without the DC/Marvel five year reboot to keep the same characters young all the time, it's a masterstroke. I think Archie are going to do everything right here, in a way that DC's recent Red Circle effort did most things wrong.

It's a shame to not see The Fly/Tom Troy in the book, and to know that Lancelot Strong won't be in any of the stories (though it'd have to be in flashback i suppose), but i think they handled it as elegantly as they could have. Also, they got Rich Buckler back on this project!

Well worth my money. I can't enthuse enough about this new magazine. I'll be buying every issue, definitely.

By the way,

I expected to see a large number of new members here now that Archie's sensibly publishing these characters again before the heat from DC's attempt cools down too much, but there aren't that many new members here. Why is that? Are they all somewhere else? Do all the New Crusaders readers just not use online bulletin boards because they're too hip and 21st century?

Just wondered!

Oh dear. Possibly a minor thing, but i just noticed on redcirclecomics.com that they seem to be planning to reset the title to issue 1 at the start of every new story arc. This is going to cause me havoc trying to collect these things. Still haven't found a proper distributor in the UK that will just send me these month to month as they come out. Any hints anyone?

I can't help about the distributor...but I'm glad you're on board. Can you subscribe?? Have you been to the Archie site.?? Maybe they don't take "foriegn subs". I'm not sure.

I don't know where everybody is, either.
I thought maybe they are on some site on facebook ...or somewhere.???

This new effort by Ian, Paul, and "the Brain Trust" looks like the "REAL DEAL" and I hope they are Very successful this time around. Looks like good quality writing, approach, and art.

I'm really hopeful that Red Circle will be a winner.!! Hope circulation goes off the charts...and many comicbook readers find THE NEW CRUSADERS and anything else that comes our way.
If they keep up the high quality of writing and art... I don't see anything to stop them.

Yes, i found a subscription service that will do New Crusaders plus Earth-2 and World's Finest (the only DC Comics i still buy apparently).

They seem to think New Crusaders is unusual (i am the only one subscribed to it apparently), and not only that because of Archie's HIGHLY annoying habit of going back to issue 1 every six issues, it means i must REsubscribe every time they do that. In advance, mind you, or i miss issues. PLUS i have to watch out or they add ALL the variant covers to my order as well (as though any sane person would want two or three copies of something just because the publisher did three different covers!).

Yet this is all still MUCH easier than the days of trying to get all the old Fly-Man and Jaguar off of ebay (or through mail order lists back in the good old days!) - Only old issue i am still missing is Adventures of the Fly 9, by dint of all that effort. This subscriptions business somehow seems too easy by comparison.

Well, it turns out i missed getting Alter Ego 96 through my subscription service (oldest one on their list is 100 now) so at least i can spend fruitless hours searching for that on eBay!

It'd make it a lot easier if Archie would finally start distributing to the UK after 75 years of not bothering. That's one thing that !mpact wiped the floor with Archie on, !mpact (and DC Red Circle) were ALL fully distributed to the UK.

Hi,

Yes, it's the prohibitive cost of postage from US to UK that puts me off buying individual issues directly from the US, when usually one will turn up on ebay in the UK at some point eventually. I also have a real aversion to digital comics too, so maybe i'm just difficult.

Speaking of that, your mileage may vary but the moderators at that other forum told me i am "uncooperative" for not telling them my login password! You have to specifically send them an email with your username and password in or they don't activate your account! Pretty cheeky, but if that's where all the red circle discussion is, then i'm not ditching them yet. But just to let you know, they don't need your password to activate you over there, because mine's active now and i didn't hand mine over.

Re: Fly 9, well, actually i now have a Copy of The Fly #9 (1983) but i was just mentioning that final issues seem to be hard for me to get, of Archie or !mpact titles, for some unknown reason.

HOWEVER ironically enough the only issue of Adventures of the Fly which i am missing is issue 9. My full "Red Circle" wants list is actually this:

Adventures of the Fly 9
Black Hood (!mpact) 12
The Web (DC Red Circle) 5 and 6
and a few issues of Pep and Laugh that had Fly/Jaguar backups.
(and my copy of Lancelot Strong #2 is missing some pages, but i do have scans of the full issue, so i'm not hunting that one)

But don't go looking for them for me, i'll pick them up from somewhere one day!
