DCU IN 2010: THE FOX, BY MICHAEL AVON OEMING UNVEILED
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

By Alex Segura

Not long ago, we announced that — among a host of new stuff happening with the Red Circle characters — acclaimed writer/artist Michael Avon Oeming would be taking a stab at the street-level avenger known as The Fox with writer Brandon Jerwa. We showed off a sketch, but now we have a finished page to make the work day go by a tad faster.

Can we say anymore? Well, I can’t, but I’m sure Red Circle Editor Rachel Gluckstern has some things to share. Take it away, Rachel:

“2009 was the year of the Red Circle; 2010 is the year of the MIGHTY CRUSADERS! Starting today with the Shield #5, the Jaguar and the Comet will be revealed as they encounter our man at war, the Shield and the fiery fugitive Inferno! And above is Michael Avon Oeming’s first page of art for the Fox co-feature, kicking off in March! This promises to be a banner year for our newest heroes, so stay tuned for more exciting news soon!”

2009 was the year of the Red Circle; 2010 is the year of the MIGHTY CRUSADERS!

That is such cool news. I hope it means another title - Mighty Crusaders!

That page does look great, doesn't it? An excellent choice of artist - I hope it draws more attention to the two titles.

Yep, it does look great. By the way,
We need a bit of an update on the Mighty Crusaders page: On the Who's Who page.

The Fox DID first appear in the issue of...Blue Ribbon Comics #4 in 1940...but Joe Blair was the writer and Irwin Hansen was the artist.
Those two were probably more instrumental in his "creation" than Buckler and Timmons in '84. On the other characters listed, their "original creators" were listed ...and not those who've updated the characters in their revivals. (Just sayin'!!)

He's on the BLUE RIBBON COMICS cover of #16. (September of 1941.)...the Blue Ribbon Comics series went to March of 1942.

They are using Paul Jr. and that is why the creators credit isn't Joe Blair and Irwin Hansen. It is always harder when the next character isn't much different from the original.

Who created Nightwing and Red Robin?
Was it Bob Kane or Marv Wolfman, George Perez and Alex Ross?

You're welcome, Rik. You're running a great site for those of us who "love" those MLJ/Archie/ whoever heroes.
This has been fun to see these heroes spin out... and offer us real hope that this will be their best revival EVER.
Without this site, I think we'd all be a little poorer.
So, .... thanks, bud.

The Mighty Crusaders are almost on the horizon... and these heroes aren't half bad. Neither are the stories. I think DC is really trying with our heroes.
